Checking In
Prom Check-In Begins at 5:00 pm
Lining Up
The check-in line starts on the 2nd floor of the Embassy Suites hotel. Some students arrive as early as 3:00 pm to start lining up. Beginning at 4:00 pm, prom staff will be there to help you find the end of the line when you arrive. Sorry, due to space constraints, only ticketed students will be allowed on the 2nd floor from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Dress Check
Dress Check will be conducted on the 2nd floor of the hotel. When you pass dress check, you’ll get a hand stamp that you must show before checking into prom. Read the Female Dress Code and the Male Dress Code to review the requirements and make sure your ensemble meets the dress code.
Bag Check
Our Sentinel Team will be checking out the stuff in your bag before you get into prom, so make sure you read the “What to Leave at Home” section (below)
With the exception of Epipens and rescue inhalers, all medications (over-the-counter and prescription) will be placed in a bag with your name on it and will be available to you in the First Aid room if you need them during prom. You may pick up your medications or other confiscated items beginning at 11:30pm in the exit hallway on your way out of prom.
If there are medications you need immediate access to throughout the night, please send a note to the prom team in advance so we can work with you to meet your medical requirements.
Please note that no liquids or outside food or beverages may be brought into prom. Dispose of these before you enter the check-in line.
What to Bring
- Comfortable shoes for dancing.
- Smartphone to use all night for check-in, games, survey, map of prom and more.
- Dollars for purchasing “extra” trinkets, sodas, and other items at the Gift Shop and at Concessions. Your first two items of the evening are free by using the tokens you will receive during check-in.
- If you will be in the dance contest, you may bring a change of clothes for the contest. Ladies should plan to wear bike shorts under their dresses. You’ll leave your change of clothes in the seamstress room in the convention center and return there to change clothes.
- Professional Photo Packages can be purchased on prom night if you did not pre-purchase. $25, $35, $50 and $60 packages are available. Cash, check, or credit card.
What to Leave at Home
- Weapons
- Alcohol
- Tobacco and vaping paraphernalia
- Illegal drugs or prescription drugs for which you do not have a prescription
- Liquids / Outside food or beverages
Show Us Your Ticket
Students, you’ll be using your dashboard on the TxCHP website during student check-in. All of the information about your evening’s details will be listed there. From your family dashboard, you’ll click on the Details box near your name to access your Student dashboard. If you have a sibling on your family account, be sure to click on your own profile.
If you don’t have a smartphone, no worries. You’ll be able to check-in by just giving us your name. We’ll have your personal itinerary card, map, poll questions, and games all on paper so you’ll be able to participate in all the prom activities.
You’ll be given two tokens upon check-in that can be used for gift shop items, soda, or other treats.
